Abstract

Oleozon (ozoniced sun tlower oil) is a topical medicine with recognized therapeutical efficieocy as a germicide. This drug has been evaluated on an acute dermic toxicity assay on rats as a requirement to be registered as a medicine for human use. Groups of animals were formed by eight, each of them according to sex and type of treatment. Tbey were observed for 14 d . During the treatment different parameters were taken into considerations to know the presence of retarded toxicity signs. Also, studies were carried out in anathomopathology, hemathology and biochemistry; the last one was directed to know the local or systemic alterations on the oxidative reaction system. The results proved tbat the dosis of 2 000 mg/kg weight, by dennic way, was not lethal. After che application of Oleozon, toxic signs did not appear only erithema and edema in treated areas. Systemic effects were not detected except for an alteration on coordination and motor activity in mate anirnals, 24 h after the treatment. The biochemical and anatomopathological studies confirmed these results.
