Abstract

Known for years, as evidenced by the ancient fable: from the curse of Ondina, the autonomous nervous system (ANS) has
been considered the Cinderella of Neurology. Today it is of great interest, as an increase in mortality has been
demonstrated in patients with autonomic failure. At the level of the somatic nerves, the ANS is represented by
unmyelinated fibers of small diameter (<2 microns), slow conduction (0.7-1.1 m/sec) and low amplitude potentials,
making it impossible to study them with conventional techniques.
