Abstract

One of the practical problems associated with neural transplantation is the limited availability of donor tissue. The ability to successfully cryopreserve neurons and tissue could result in the establishment of an alternative source of tissue usable in neurotransplantation. In this paper, the most relevant technical aspects related to the cryopreservation of neurons and primary neural tissue are briefly mentioned, and the progress achieved in their introduction in neurotransplantation is reviewed.
