Abstract

Toe oxygen reaction (OER), ano<lic reaction in aqueous solution, plays an important role in the electrolytic process beca use with usual materials as anodes, it has a high overpotential that increases the energy consumption of tbe process. In the study of the properties of the Co oxides it was found that the transformation Co2O3/CoO2 occurs at tbe same time as the OER, and that the spinel Co3O4 is one of tbe most active catalysts for the oxidation reactions which offers good perspectives for the use of these oxides as anode materials for OER. In the present work the spinel Co3O4, employed as anode material for the OER, was studied in carbonate-ammoniacal solution. Galvancstatic anodic i-E cur­ves were made and it was concluded that the spinel Co3O4 with the oxide RuO2 forros a good material for these anodes.
