Abstract

Furfurilidene acetone polymers, prepared by acid catalysis were carachterized spectros copically and by other means; the evidence obtained indi­cates that polymerization takes place mainly via the olefinic double bond without appreciable condens.ation. A mechanism for the polymerization is proposed. A study of the oxidation of the polymer shows that near ultraviolet light has a strong accelerating influence on the process.
