Estudio comparativo de la fragmentación de furfuraldoximas sustltuídas en posición 5 por espectrometría de masa

Abstract

Continuing our previdus work on mass spectrometric fragmen­tation of 5 sustituted furfurals, we analyzed a series of furfuraldoximes sustituted in the same position (X= H, CH1, CI, Br, I, N02 COOCH3, COOH). Confirm­ing earlier results, we observed two principal means of fragmentation closely relat­ed to the substituent present in the molecule. In the case of (X = H, CH3, CI, Br, I), destruction of the oxime group with the elimination of water observed as a primary means of fragmentation. The second means consisted of the frag­
mentation of the substituents (X = N02, COOCH3). In the case X = COOH, a similar result was expected but on the contrary the elimination of water again constituted the mas probable fragmentation. The peaks (M -1 )+ that appear with a noticeable intensity in the sustituted furfural spectra do not appear in the spectra of the studied oximes.
