Abstract

George-Simon Sérullas (1774-1832) was a French military pharmacist who carried on the synthesis of many new derivatives of iodine, chlorine, and bromine; among them, iodoform and silicon tetrabromide. He also synthesized and described a variety of new potassium alloys, proposed an explanation for the movement of sodium, potassium, and camphor particles on water, a procedure for exploding gunpowder underwater, etc
