Abstract

It is said that autists present difficulties to use the global contextual information, while they seem to be better than normal subjects
in the processing of local information. In this work, we propose an experimental design to describe changes in the local and global processing in a group of autists and in a control group. In autist subjects an attentional blink appears when they go from a local to a global level. The results seem to confirm the theory of a weak central coherence in artists, because in these subjects processing on a local level seems to be favoured .
