Abstract

One of the most complex problems in Neuropsychology is the rehabilitation process as a consequence of brain damage. Traditionally this process has completely centered itself in physical and language rehabilitation, but very few times therapeutic methods are used in cases of amnesia, spatial disorders, attention disorders, etc. However, taking into account the professional activity of the patient and attention disorder can result in a handicap for his appropriate behavior. Frequently, the required skills for the satisfactory development of some exercises and computer games are precisely the same, the physician want to rehabilitate in the patient: visual coordination, concentration, etc. For this reason a software was design and has been used in the clinical practice for a year. In the software design a versatile and comfortable rehabilitation strategy mainly based on the continuous change of stimulation material
and the processing level required in the task, besides it includes a stimulation material correctly designed, structured and valid for the work with children or adults. This allows the subject to generalize the acquired skills different from the traditional automated methods which only allow the training in a specific task. This result constitutes an achievement because a rehabilitation strategy or training of the attention processes, based on cognitive models described for this process has been included in this software constituting a new option for the treatment of patients with attention disorders.
