Abstract

The geometric shape of packaging is important not only related to the maximum surface available for biological growth, but also the hydrodynamics of the aerobic fixed film reac­tors. The retention time in five trickling filters was measured. The retention time can not be related to the specific surface. The con­figuration of the package is an important factor regarding retention time. The superior performance of cpv-c and poliethylene media can significantly reduce trickling filter structural and media re­quirements for the RABF process over conventional media.
