Abstract

A study has been made of thee results obtained by the method of "Freeze etching" on red blood cells . The structural caracteristics of the plasmatic membrane of these cells are described as observed by means of this method It has been found that when the fracture of the membrane is slanted a presence of filaments or associated sub-units in filament form can be observed crossing the membrane . A discusion is established concerning the interpretation of the images obtained with this method and the possible significance of the mentioned particles . Also a study is made of the influence of a magnetic field on the intracytoplasmic particles observed on the fracture of the red blood cells . It has been proved that these particles present the same magnetic properties as the Hemoglobin molecules . It is confirmed that these particles correspond to individual replicas of the mentioned molecules . A hypothesis on the molecular ordering in the interior of the red blood cells is proposed .
