Abstract

Fifty patients with gastroduadenal pelpic ulcers with Helicobacter pylori (Hp) were treated with Cuban-produced
colloidal bismuth subcitrate (Q-ULCER). One tablet (120 mg) one hour before breakfast, lunch, dinner and at bedtime
for six to eight weeks if necessary. Duodenoscopy and biopsy of the antrum were performed to detect Hp by ureana
test before and after treatment. Of the 50 patients, 39 (78%) healed the ulcerative crater at six weeks of treatment
and 45 (90%) at eight weeks. The ureana test was negative in 34 patients (68%) at the end of treatment. Total
remission was obtained in 62% of the patients. Treatment with Q-Ulcer was effective and well tolerated.
