Abstract

Traditional use of paper electrophoresis does not solve the current  cessities in Clinical Immunology investigation . The presence of electroendosmosis
and tails in electrophoretic bands decreases the neatness and makes the determination of each fraction in an electrophoresis difficult . Future works of
clinical determination on children will demand knowledge of the normal values of plasma proteins using the electrophoretic method . Gelatinized cellulose acetate
was selected to avoid distortion . One hundred and twenty horizontal electrophoreses were made, stained with Ponceau S, and densitometrically quantified .
Values of different fractions were obtained from six groups of twenty children classified by age following immunological criteria .
