Abstract

The methods for the determination both by spectro­photometry with arsenazo lU and energy dispersive X-ray fluores­cence of sorne rare earth elements (REE) from neodymium oxalate are described. The procedures include a previous separation of tbese elemeots by cationic excha11ge aod using solutions of severa! organic complexing agents in condicions of low and medium pres­sure. The intluence of such factors as the relationship height per diarneter, load of REE in the colunm and pH of the rnedium was studied. The separation of Y and elements heavier than Nd it re­sulted effective, employing solutions of a-HIBA. For the light REE (Pr, Ce and La) a satisfactory separation using citric acid was obtained. Also, some results, obtained with lactic acid as eluting agent, and the metrological pararneters of the established methods are reponed.
