Abstract

Thirty patients (18 females and 12 males) that presented endoscopically peptic ulcer and antral gastritis with Helicobacter pylori (Hp) were studied. The aim of this study was to know the endoscopy and histological changes of the antral mucous with Hp in ulcerous patients, treated with colloidal bismuth subcitrate (Q-ULCER). Before treatment, 76,6 % of active chronic gastritis (ACG) was presented and after treatment as a result a 26,6 % (the percent was diminished). Inactive chronic gastritis was increased from 20 to 70 % by tbe histological change in the tissue with loss of neutrophil infiltrate. One patient with ACG before treatment reached the normality. In ali, the Hp clearance was 70 %; tJ1e endoscopy diagnosis presented few variations. It was concluded that in the patients where the ACG lost its activity, the healing process of the peptic ulcer and the Hp clearance were superior than the cases that there were no favorable histological changes of the antral mucous and it is importan! to take into account the possibility to employ in the future the treatment with Q-ULCER for prevention of che ulcer disease.
