Abstract

Lesion development in tomato plants (Lycopersicon Lycopersicum L.) karsten, artificially inoculated by aspersion with a bacterial suspension of Xanthomonas "esicatoria (Doidge) Dowson at 106 cell/ml, was observed in 9 varieties of tomato under laboratory conditions. Our object was to determine the susceptibility or tolerance of these varieties to the bacterial spot disease produced by this pathogen. The statistical analysis showed that Pearl-Harbor variety was the most susceptible of all and the Campbell 28 and Homestead 61 varieties turned out to be more tolerant than the other ones studied in those conditions.
