Abstract

The scientific and technological development is one of the most significant factors, nowadays. General media provide information in practically real time. With the advent of social media on the internet, the scientific discourse has been enforced to try new forms of expression in free online communication channels. However, the appropiate communication of science has an enormous responsibility in the unquestionable interrelation between science and public opinion. One of the great paradoxes in research, regardless of the field of science involved, is that research has to be written and published before it can be recognized as complete research. To identify the most common errors in the writing process of the scientific publications of the Cuban Center for Neurosciences in the period 2015-2020; and analyze the bibliometric indicators of the scientific production, related to papers accepted in journals indexed in the Web of Science and Scimago, in the same period.

250 manuscripts on Neuroscience topics were analyzed. 202 were accepted, by the Editorial Committee of the journals, for further review. The texts, objects of this study, were the ones accepted in journals indexed by the Web of Science and Scimago. The research included the following bibliometric indicators: total publications per year and quartile; first authors, senior and co-authors, main topics addressed and co-authorship with researchers from other countries.  of the total of the reviewed manuscripts, 48 presented mainly methodological and writing deficiencies, and did not comply with the publication requirements. These works were rejected by the Editorial Committee of the Journal. The largest number of approved papers corresponded to the 2018-2020 period. There was a fluctuation in the scientific production of the center in the period analyzed. Nonetheless, the topics of the greatest number of publications comprised Neuroinformatics, Molecular Biology, Neurochemistry, and Neurocognitive fields, where the most experienced researchers and specialists work.
