General, nutritional and metabolic characteristics of the genus Mycobacteriurn

Abstract

The morphological, staining, structural characteristics, as well as the composition of the cell wall of the genus Mycobacterium are generally described. The metabolic differences of this in relation to other bacterial genera and the characteristics of their cultures are explained. In addition, the general nutritional needs for microbial growth in terms of sources of carbon, nitrogen and inorganic elements are exposed.
